Elizabeth Rosenau has written a great summary of the genesis and ongoing work of building a 40-unit, dense cohousing project in Vancouver, B.C.
Her summary of the Compass Cohousing project's history and game plan is like reading how the Bull City Commons design, construction, and financing works (though we own the land and so do not pay a mortgage.)
This is a highly readable yet detailed look at what it takes to build a cohousing project from the ground up: incorporating the skills of your members, skilled advisors, taking the long view, and lots of lateral thinking.
