Christine

I grew up in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains, went to college in Chicago, and moved to Durham in 1998 to manage the old Durham Coop Grocery store, a.k.a the People’s Intergalactic Food Conspiracy #1. My early career in co-ops led to an interest in community development, which in turn led to a career in affordable housing and grass-roots real estate development.

I have loved living my adult life in central Durham, with its diversity and its progressive, quirky, homegrown culture. Now I’m excited to be part of an even closer-knit community of old friends and new friends in Bull City Commons. In my free time I like to hike, garden, cook for Judie, read graphic novels and play fiddle in my Cajun band, the Cajammers. One of the things I love about BCC is that so many other community members share my interests, and I can’t wait to jam with Jim on the screen porch, cook with Jo in the common kitchen, and create beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces with the whole community.

"Christine is the reason why a lot of us took this great leap of faith to join a newly forming cohousing community. She knows her stuff and inspires confidence in her leadership. And frankly there is not enough space to list all the superlatives. What a competent, charming, patient, bright hard-working woman. We are so lucky to have her as part of our family."
